Immersive Sustainability Lab
Immersive Sustainability Lab (ISL) was an Interior Design project done in collaboration with Helsinki XR Center. ISL is a meeting hub for students, XR professionals and partners alike. My team was tasked with conducting user research from students and other personnel who were using the space previously to find out what a perfect studio space would look like for them. Afterwards, we designed the new studio space based on user feedback and gave these concepts to our client.
In this project, I worked as a Project Manager in charge of a team of 2. My main tasks were communication with our client, scheduling and tracking our progress, and promoting our user research on our campus. All of the team members came up with concepts of how the studio could look like and we settled with two themes that we went forward with: forest and sea. From there we designed two different looks for the space using a ready made 3D model of the space courtesy of Helsinki XR Center. Later on the client decided to go with the forest theme.
While designing the space, our team’s main goals were to keep the theme of sustainability in everything we designed and to make the space accessible to everyone. This was shown in our plans as using second-hand furniture to furnish the space and reusing pallets to make sofas.
